March 16th, 2006 - WASHINGTON, D.C. � U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D. (R-TN) today announced his intention to introduce a border security bill before the recess to ensure the Senate has a border security bill ready for debate during the week of March 27:
�Our country needs security at our borders in order to slow the flow of illegal immigration and make America safer from foreign criminals and terrorists. That�s why today I will introduce a border security bill, to guarantee the Senate will have legislation available for consideration the week of March 27.
�This bill will be based on the consensus enforcement, visa reform and immigration litigation reform titles of Chairman Specter�s mark-up of border security legislation and focus on ensuring strict enforcement of our nation�s immigration laws. I look forward to bringing a border security bill to the floor during the week of March 27 and allowing the full Senate to start work on border security and interior law enforcement, as well as comprehensive immigration reform, so that America is more secure and our constituents are safer. All this May 15th/21 date is open to interepretation there is no set concrete laws yet.I just filed I-140 and I-1485 on the 1 st June and my attorney told me just go and wait now and live your life.We can worry about stupid laws that MIGHT go into affect a yr or never and destroy your precious time.
In the meantime go to NUMBERSUSA website and send as many faxs against this CIR bill and get it shutdown.
Yes i know NUMBERSUSA is anti-immigrant but in this situation it beneficial to all us legals if this bill goes down in flames.

If this bill ultimately passes through Congress and becomes law as currently written, 50% of these "recaptured" numbers would be allocated to "Schedule A" occupations. Currently, the measure has passed through only the Senate. To become law, the bill would still have to pass through the House and be signed by President Bush.

All of us have to understand the Democrats are against all the legal immigrants. Sen Boxter and Feinstein have made it clear in their past statements that they oppose, any high skilled immigration.

GC Life screwed me badly, couldn't file in EB2 2 times even though eligible because of a couple of idiots, only action item I can think for myself is re file in EB-2 which I am doing it very soon and have an appointment wirh Mr.Khanna tomorrow.

I would say fight back against the indirect discrimination against the Indian and Chinese nationals in the employment-based immigration.
If they want us to leave..then so be it..but they should say so directly. All India and Chinese EB immigrants please leave USA. Until that comes out of the US government directly, we can not be forced out through indirect policies.
Here are a few things you can do:
1) Withdraw all the $ you deposited in US banks from savings, checking, CDs and other investment accounts and setup an NRE account with an indian bank and move funds over. If you need you can bring back those funds in a day or two. Leave only bare minimum for your expenses in US banks. This would have an impact of ~$50K X 100K effect.
2) Do not leave the country just because the hopes of greencard are controlled, sqeeze out every $ from your jobs and economy as long as you are here.
3) Spend minimum and buy swadeshi when possible. Lets not give back even 10% of the income we make back into the economy. This is an economic blockade.
USCIS and US government has long harassed Indians in the name of greencard for a longtime and year after year we hear the same BS. Come on people, show some self-respect and fight back.
4) Those who are in foreclosure, stop paying your mortgage, your home is going to get foreclosed anyway.
5) Despite all this...those who still decide to leave to India, max out all your credit cards, leave your car in airport and abandon your home/apt without paying rent/mortgage for the few months before you leave.
TAKE all you can from your hard-lived and harassed lives out of this place before you do decide to move.
I am not keeping more than 5K in any of my US banks starting today. I am also pulling back from my mortgage application for 300K condo. I am determined to sell-off my investments in equities here and begin investing in BSE.
That is the least I could do to peacefully protest against the discrimination against me and my country people.
Please do not over react. This lays down the problem that we all have been speculating over the last few months...years... Atleast we know officially what the prediction is. We need to get working on the recapture, CIR, etc...

I left old job 10 months before July 07. But attorney at new employer did mistake with advertisement, and PERM got rejected. Applied again, and USCIS audited all Fragomen cases, so mine stuck there attorney being Fragomen. By then July 07 was gone. In Sept 08 again my PD (Nov 05) was current but I was stuck with Audit.... Finally I got PERM approved, 140 approved, but since then NOV 05 is far far away....
I think with a little luck you may cross the line this year, it maybe a close shave or a diving effort, all the best and best wishes. Maybe 2010 is the year for you.

I do not think CIS has that much smartness in them. Different sections seem to go about the motions on their own schedule. They seem to be an uncoordinated bunch so far.
How do you explain push for EAD approvals before June 30th? ppl got approvals in matter of days (in most cases less then 20 days)

reddog, please explain how you have supported IV in the past in non-monetary ways. For lobbying, there is not much you can do other than support monetarily,or make trips to DC yourself.
I am sure IV core will at least consider such non-monetary support on case-by-case basis.
