Hi Guys,
I noticed recently a lot of people have the status of "Donor" instead of "Senior Member", "Member", Junior Member etc.
How does one become a "Donor". I have donated to IV SEVERAL times in the past.
Can you take sometime to fill in your profile?

I'm looking for homeloan options in India. Which bank would be good to apply for home loans.

One major issue is, every year they are going to receive 600K EAD renewals. They will never get time to work on 485, but life long working on renewing this EAD's and no more further GC processing.
Remember...some of these 600K will get the GCs or have them denied. For example, concurrently filed I-140s will be denied etc. So the numbers may reduce over time.

So, no worries. There must be a solution ahead for us.

The bill being discussed in the senate if passed is going to be very detrimental to people that are stuck in the labor backlog centers. They wil be forced to redo their labor with the new point based system. That is not fair at all.

That is a wonderful proposal and should be given due weight. Despite the early arrival, an individual may not filed his/her GC due to several reasons. Most commonly found / heard are
1. Company closures/ Layoffs / Transfer to different state
2. Employer / attorney delay and / or fraud in filing GC
3. Delays in processing Labor in certain states / backlog centers
This proposal seems a ray of hope for people in the above category. God bless Rajeev74 and all. Let this be heard and got attention at the policy level.

a) Pros of this idea
b) Cons of this idea
c) Alternative we might have.
Also, please do not get emotionally attach to an idea let democratically select that is best for the community.
Please limit to those ideas that are executable and within the bounds of law.
In my opinion, we should do this:
Just send two information to USCIS, DOS, President, VP, First Lady and all Congress person of the following:
1. 1st info should have a photocopy of our degree certificate(s). On the same page, print your expereince in years and total tax paid till date to the US government.
2. On a fresh page, type in all the H1B/L VISA approval information and type in bold, we were wanted/invited here legally (and admitted via H1/L).
And, mention that our I140 is approved which means the immigration department has validated our eligibility to become PR.
Ask a question (larger font) on the same page, why keep us on limbo?
This would keep the whole thing short and sweet. We are explicitly saying that we are legals. And we were invited here - legally. We are approved by immigration team to be a PR.
If we could send couple of thousands of letters, I am sure it would have impact as much as any other letter we have in mind.
We are not humiliating them, we are just expressing our frustrations but in mass. May be we can say something like, "Legal Techie slaves in the land of liberty" or "Immigration process that enslave Legal Techies". But, we should keep it short.
As always, ignore this idea if you guys dont like it.

Arrived before the Millennium: Dec 1999
Started GC processing in 2003 finally filed in March/Apr 2004.
2007 lucky fiasco gave me and my wife chance on EAD.

please guys just write as many as you can...as i pm'ed pappu...my piece was touchy feely, because i wanted it that way. He suggested some additions to add contributions of immigrants/details of retrogression but I declined cos i felt the touchy feeliness (so to speak) would be diluted.

In india, Real estates brokers are increasing land prices and apts because... of NRIs. NRI's money is coming to india like anything... So simply they are increasing... Those land are less than 50% on current price...

No, it does not even do that. it does not let FOIA donors logon too.
First, the whole concept of donor based organisation is so stupid.
I mean really stupid.
If the donor based thing is ON, the future of IV is not good.
Yeah, IV does good work by talking to people all around, from different stratas of lawmaking and what not.
but get real, look around guys, information is everywhere, not only here. and you are working for the greater good of the community, only donors are not going to be benefitting from this.
Instead of making donor based posts, have a FOIA kinda drive every now and then.

Other than the visa recapture, I guess at this point there isn't a whole lot we can do. I guess when we applied for GC we basically pawned our life to USCIS.
It is kind of sad that when they had visa available they weren't able to approve the cases before April '03. Pathetic!!
Enough of venting.... hopefully things might work out for the better this year!

After I-140 approval if we are allowed to file 485 that will give us big relief, Willing to contribute big time if IV can make this part of its agenda
