My lawyer filed my I-140 application in nebraska service center. Is that correct? shouldn't it be Texas Service Center for Florida. Does it matter which service center to apply to?

You have to make ur wifes country of birth prominent by sending a letter in BOLD or else USCIS will miss it.

Lots of activity to report. Congressional Hispanic Caucus leaders met this week with President Obama who said he wants a vote during the Lame Duck and would work the phones to round up votes. Harry Reid tweeted today that he'll offer the DREAM Act as a standalone bill which will hopefully help bring along a few of the "procedural" no voters from last September who indicated they like the DREAM Act but didn't believe in tacking it on to a budget bill. Hi,
I know this is forum is not the correct place to discuss this topic. But I am posting this because some members of the forum must have already faced ths issue.
I ahve a one month old newborn. We are planning to go to India for vacation end of July. I have to apply for my baby's US passport. But she has not received her SSN. The instuction says that SSN is not mandatory but IRS can fine you if you dont disclose that information. I tries to contact SSN office, IRS office and Passport Office. Each one will point to the other Agency. So not sure what what to do. Anyone who was in the same boat, please let me know whether there are any issues with applying for passport without SSN number.

I just received an 3 year h1-B extension based on an approved I-140. I had only 2 years left of 6 year h1 limit but because I have an approved I-140, I got one more year.
I attached my approved I-140 copies along with H1B extension application but the Alien number A# on this new H1-B extension approval is different than what I have on I-140 approval notice. Actually its a typo, instead of A 08 it A 008 and because of one extra zero the last digit is lost.
Is this a matter of concern? Please help.

I gave first FP on 9/28 and lat month I took info pass and the officer raised a SR for non delivery of cards to which I got a reply that my card might have lost in mail. I called USCIS who mentioned that my card was never created and now it will be created. Now my online status changes mentioning that I have been sent FP notice again. I called uscis again and mentioned that I already gave biometrics
The officer said it was erroneous so ignore the FP notice and he will be requesting CPO for me. I even called FBI FP line today to confirm that my first FP was fine and they said it was fine and uploaded

Is it possible? Pro-active Finger-Printing without appointment letter.
I have done my FP on March 1st 2005, since the validity is now expired, i called the VSC to enquire when and if i will be getting another FP notice soon.She told me that i can contact the local ASC(Application service centre) and go for the Finger-printing without any formal Notice/Appointment Letter.
Has anybody done this? ie has anybody done Pro-active finger-printing without appointment letter? Please reply.

Can we file PERM with a photocopy of Passport that is about to expire in 3 months.
Is it advisable to get passport renewed and then file it or it doesn't matter? My lawyer has asked me to submit copy of my passport along with other document that will go with the PERM application. Just wondering if my lawyer files PERM after expiration date (mentioned in the passport copy) has passed (due to delay in paperwork etc). Or what if lawyer files before expiration date but case is reviewed by DOL/USCIS after expiration date is passed?
Off course, I will apply for a renewal of passport, but just wondering what would happen in the above scenario?

I resigned my job last year on Dec 15th 2006 by giving my employer a 2 weeks notice (dec 29th was supposed to be the last working day). A week later, i informed my employer that i won't be leaving them at which time, he suggested that i continue working as normal and that he would take care of un-doing the paper work. They had sent out a letter to INS to revoke my 797 even before my last working day with them. The HR contact has failed to follow-up and inform the INS of this development and am told last week that i have been out of status for 10 days now (March 10 was the day INS revoked my H1b). The company has accepted responsibility for this mess and are filing an accelerated H1b (premium) application this week. I had continued employment this whole time and never had any break in my payments. Are there any chances the INS won't put be back on H1 status with my company ?.
Experts .. please advice.

Perhaps there is a chance we'll see some action on the DREAM Act in 2011 albeit with some major tough to accept changes. The key areas likely to change are the education requirement (mandating actually receiving a degree versus simply attending school), the ability to sponsor relatives down the road when DREAM Act finally become citizens (at least 13 years out) and criminal bars on applying.

HI,
I am in US and have changed a job recently (changed status from L1 to H1 while in US). I plan to travel to india soon in Feb 2010. My passport is valid till March 2011 and my H1b approval is till 2012. Will this be a problem for me when I go for stamping in India.

Would anyone know how much time does it take for one to get a new SSN ? If someone is coming from India, how much time they should wait after entering the US before they apply for the SSN ?

I have filed for 485 /EAD and AP on july 2 2007
receipt date is July 2 2007
Notice date is Aug 29 2007
I see the processing time is 90 day at Texas
I called USCIS and they tell me that they count processing time from the Notice date and not from the date when the case was filed
We have travel plans for this Dec
Can some one pls guide me how and when i can get my AP soon

Can someone give me the site where i can get the current processing dates for PERM?
The Labour certification is going to be filed this month end, in that case how long i have to wait to file I140?
Also i heared that I140 and 485 can be filed together.
Is that true? if so what is required from my side to the attorney for those two stages.
